Preparation Method :

  • Roast Semolina in oil in a deep pan on medium heat. Till rava turns light brown. Remove keep aside.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the same pan. Splutter mustard seeds and urad dhal.
  • Sauté the sliced onions till translucent. Add ginger then chopped tomatoes, chillies and continue to stir-fry on medium heat.
  • Add vegetables and pour 5 cups of water and salt. Let the vegetables get half cooked with the lid on.
  • Open and mix in the fried semolina, little by little, stirring with a spatula, continuously.
  • Keep on stirring till semolina gets cooked to the right consistency making it look light and fluffy.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with curry leaves and dry chilly.


  • 500 grams Semolina  
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 300 grams diced vegetables
  • 1 teaspoon urad dhal
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 5 green chillies split lengthwise
  • 2 medium sized tomato roughly cut into 8 pieces.
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 5 pinches of turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves and dry chilly to garnish
  • Sesame Oil
  • Salt to taste
