Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil. When hot add all the ingredients for tempering.
  • When the mustard seeds splutter, add the green chillies. Stir for a few seconds.
  • Add the cabbage, green peas, salt and ¾ cup water. Cover and cook on high heat till the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the grated coconut. Mix well.
  • Serve hot.



  • 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
  • 500 grams cabbage, chopped fine
  • 75 grams shelled green peas
  • 2 tablespoon grated fresh coconut
  • Salt to taste


  • 1 teaspoon black gram dhal
  • 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dhal
  • 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds  
  • 1 dry red chilli, halved
  • ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
  • A few curry leaves
