HOT SPICY STEAMED RICE CAKE

Preparation Time :

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Coarsely grind the rice, dhal, red chilli, and peppercorn and keep aside.
  • Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  •  Add hing, urad dal and saute it for a minute.
  • Then add curry leaves, grated carrot and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now add 3 cup water, required salt and bring it to boil.
  • Add the rice and dhal mixture slowly without forming lumps.
  • Cover with lid and simmer it for 10 minutes to a thick consistency.
  • Remove from flame and allow it to cool.
  • Make small heart or round sized shapes out of the rice and dhal mixture and steam it in idli cooker for 10 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams raw rice
  • 50 grams Toor dal
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper corn
  • 1" Ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 Red chillies
  • Pinch of Hing
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal
  • One sprig Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Carrot, grated
