Preparation Method :

  • Wash and trim the plaice fillets. Pat dry and set aside in a shallow ovenproof dish.
  • In a separate bowl mix the ingredients for the marinade. Spread this mixture over the plaice fillets and set aside for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the grill until very hot and place the fish dish under it.
  • Grill for about 5 minutes, basting now and then with the spice mixture.
  • Brush with 2 tablespoons of oil , If the fish looks a little dry. Continue to grill for a further 10 minutes or until black burnt spots appear.
  • Serve garnished with lemon wedges, fresh coriander and green chillies.


  • 4 plaice fillets


  • 75 grams natural yogurt 
  • 45 grams tomato puree 
  • 45 grams fresh coriander, chopped
  • 45 ml lemon juice
  • 30 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil 
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin 
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander 
  • 1 teaspoon crushed ginger 
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic


  • 4 lemon wedges
  • 1 tablespoon fresh coriander
  • 3 fresh green chillies, slit down the middle
