Preparation Method :

  • Peel and halve the onions and then slice very thinly. Finely chop garlic.
  • Mix the flours with the remaining ingredients and enough water to make a smooth creamy batter. Add the onion and garlic.
  • Heat oil in a wide flat pan. Add tablespoonfuls of the batter and press into patties. Fry on both sides until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove to a rack covered with absorbent paper to drain.
  • Serve hot with chili sauce.


  • 6 large onions
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 200 grams besan
  • 200 grams flour
  • 2 egg
  • 3 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • IDHAYAM sesame oil for shallow frying
