Preparation Method :

  • Grate coconut.
  • Pressure cook moong dal for 4 whistles.
  • Fry red chillies and make into fine paste with coconut and jeera.
  • Chop cabbage finely, and shell peas.
  • Add cabbage and peas to boiling salt water; toss until green and pressure-cook for a whistle.
  • Remove lid immediately as specified for green vegetables.
  • Add the paste to the mixture and stir over fire.
  • Temper mustard seeds and broken urad dal as required; add curry leaves and stir with the kootu.
  • Now add boiled dal, and blend well.
  • Serve hot.


  • 500 grams of cabbage
  • 4 tablespoons Peas
  • 100 grams of moong dal
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon broken urad dal
  • A few curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • Salt to taste


  • 5 tablespoon coconut
  • 3 red chillies
  • 2 teaspoon jeera
