MALABAR COCONUT GRAVY

Preparation Time :

Preparation Method :

  • Cut all vegetables into 2" pieces.
  • Grate coconut and Shell peas.
  • Soak thoor dal for 15 minutes and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  • Pressure-cook vegetables with turmeric powder, salt and chilly powder for one whistle. Add cooked dal.
  • Grind grated coconut and jeera and add to the vegetables.
  • Heat oil, and allow the mustard seeds to splutter and then add the broken urad dal and curry leaves in that order.
  • Add these to the vegetables and let it simmer over medium gas. Stir well and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams of yam
  • 100 grams of ash-gourd
  • 100 grams of carrots
  • 16 pieces drumstick
  • 100 grams of beans
  • 2 tablespoon of peas
  • 300 grams of thoor dal
  • 2 teaspoon jeera
  • 2teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 200 grams of coconut
  • 2 teaspoon chilly powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil
  • A few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
