Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a wok or large pan and add the cumin seeds. Fry gently it begin to splutter.
  • Simmer to low flame and stir in the yogurt mixture and cook for about 2-3 minutes over a medium heat.
  • Add the chopped fresh coriander, green chillies and cooked potatoes. Blend everything together and cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring the mixture occasionally.
  • Transfer to a warmed serving dish and garnish with the coriander sprigs.
  • Mix the yogurt, water, turmeric, chilli powder with the ground coriander, ground cumin, salt and sugar in a bowl. Set it aside.


  • 750 grams potatoes, halved, boiled and drained
  • 250 ml plain yogurt, whisked
  • ½ teaspoon soft brown sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 
  • 2 fresh green chillies, sliced 
  • 250 ml water
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder 
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander 
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt, to taste
