Preparation Method :

  • Wash, peel and chop up the turnips, Cover with water to prevent discoloration.
  • Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the onions until golden brown.
  • Lower the heat and add the salt and spices, whip the yogurt lightly with a fork and add to the onion mixture.
  • Stir-fry for about 2 minutes, then mix in the drained turnips, fresh coriander and green chillies.
  • Add water and simmer until the turnips are cooked. Serve hot.


  • 3 baby turnips or 450 grams large turnip
  • 75 ml peanut oil
  • 3 medium onions, peeled and finely chopped 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder 
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala 
  • ½ teaspoon diced and crushed ginger root
  • A pinch turmeric
  • 4 tablespoons natural yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander
  • 3 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 250 ml water
