Preparation Method :

  • Remove red part. Keep aside. Peel green skin to obtain white flesh of watermelon. Cut the flesh into 1" pieces. Puree the red part and strain.
  • Heat 2 tablespoon ghee. Add cumin seeds.
  • When cumin seeds turns brown, add chopped green chillies. Stir. Add white part of watermelon and bhuno for 4-5 minutes till golden patches appear.
  • Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes till soft. Add cumin powder, sugar and salt. Mix for a minute.
  • Add red watermelon puree. Boil. Remove from heat.
  • Add coriander leaves if using. Mix well and serve hot.



  • 250 grams white flesh of watermelon, cut into 1" pieces
  • 800 grams chopped red part of water melon - pureed
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 5 green chillies-chopped
  • ¾ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Some chopped coriander leaves
