Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a large shallow pan and add the cumin and mustard seeds. When the seeds begin to sizzle, add the cabbage and stir- fry for a minute or two.
  • Add the fresh red chillies and all of the ground spices. Stir-fry for about 10 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt.
  • Cover and cook for about 5 minutes or until the cabbage is soft and translucent.
  • Serve with Tomato Rice.


  • 550 grams white cabbage, finely shredded
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 2-3 red chillies, deseeded and finely sliced
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste

Ground Spices

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon ginger paste
