KABULI CHANA

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the curry leaves and onions, stir and fry until the onions are soft and golden.
  • In a small bowl mix all the spices, garlic and salt along with tomato puree. Blend this paste well with onions, simmer for about 2 minutes .
  • Then add tomatoes, chick peas, potato, green chillies , fresh coriander and water and mix well. Cover the saucepan, lower the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander.

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 tablespoons Cooking oil  
  • 2 medium onions, peeled and chopped 
  • ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon diced and crushed ginger root 
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander 
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced 
  • 450 grams can chick peas, or 250 grams dried chick peas
  • 1 large potato, peeled and diced
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder 
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 green chillies, chopped, deseeded 
  • 4 curry leaves
  • 200 ml water 
  • Fresh coriander to garnish
