Preparation Method :

  • Blend the cornmeal to a paste with 100ml water.
  • Heat the oil in a pan, add the onions and saute for 3 minutes, or until translucent.
  • Add the ginger, garlic and chillies and stir-fry briefly. Stir in the chilli powder and mustard, spinach leaves. Add 100ml water and cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the blended cornmeal and cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Cool the mixture slightly and blend to a coarse paste. Reheat, stir well and serve.


  • 4 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 5cm piece root ginger, chopped
  • 10 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 10 green chillies, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 kg mustard greens, roughly chopped
  • 200 grams spinach, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
