Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a medium heavy pan, add the onion , onion seeds and green chillies ,fry until the onion has turned golden brown.
  • Simmer and add the ground turmeric and salt to the onions and fry for about 1 minute.
  • Add the prepared okra, quickly stir-fry the okra for a few minutes until they are lightly golden.
  • Stir in the yogurt, tomatoes and finally, the coriander. Cook further 3-5 minutes.
  • Transfer the okra to a serving dish and serve hot.


  • 500 grams okra
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon onion seeds
  • 4 medium fresh green chillies, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric 
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon natural (plain) low fat yogurt
  • 3 medium tomatoes, sliced 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
