Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onions and fry, until golden brown.
  • Simmer to low flame, add the ginger, garlic, chilli powder, ground cumin, ground coriander and salt and stir-fry for a minute.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  • Add the drained potatoes to the onion mixture and spice mixture. Sprinkle the lemon juice and mix well.
  • The Seasoning: Heat little oil in a separate saucepan. Add all the seasoning ingredients and fry, until the seeds turn a shade darker.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and pour it over the spicy potato mixture.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and chilies.


  • 500 grams new potatoes, drained
  • 100 grams medium-sized onions, finely chopped
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
  • 4-5 fresh garlic cloves, crushed
  • Salt and chili powder, to taste
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice


  • 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • 3-4 dried red chilies
  • ½ teaspoon onion seeds
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds

To Garnish

  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1-2 green chili, finely chopped
