Preparation Method :

  • Pressure-cook potatoes for 2 whistles, peel skin and keep aside
  • Chop onions and coriander leaves very finely.
  • Heat oil, in a pan and roast the mustard seeds.
  • Add curry leaves, onions, turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida powder Stir well for two minutes until the onions turn light golden icolour. Now add the boiled and chopped potatoes and the pitlai powder.
  • Stir to roast well. Now add the coriander leaves and mix properly.  when the onions turns deeper golden colour. Remove from flame
  • Serve hot with rice.


  • 1 kg Potatoes
  • 2 teaspoon Pitlai powder
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 100 grams of Onions
  • 1 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
  • A few curry leaves
  • 200 grams of coriander leaves
  • 6 tablespoons Cooking oil 
  • Salt to taste
