Preparation Method :

  • Soak dal in hot water for 15 minutes and grind masala ingredients coarsely.
  • Remove outer skin leaf of the banana flower and pluck the flowers. Now remove centre stem throw it away and chop the vegetable finely.
  • Soak in diluted lassi water.
  • Pressure-cook the vegetable with salt and turmeric powder for a whistle. Keep aside.
  • Make usili as specified in the previous recipe adding the vegetable after 3 minutes. Add a little sugar to the vegetable to avoid any bitterness.
  • Serve hot with rice.


  • 400 grams of Banana flower
  • 500 grams of Capsicum
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves a few
  • 4 ladles Sesame oil
  • Salt for taste


  • 400 grams of Thoor dal
  • 4 tablespoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 6 Red chillies
  • Salt to taste
