Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a large pan and fry the mustard seeds until they begin to splutter.
  • Add in the sliced onion, garlic and ginger and fry for about 5 minutes, stirring.
  • Stir in the potatoes, chilli powder, salt and water and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the spinach to the pan. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.


  • 750 grams firm potatoes, cut into small chunks 
  • 500 grams spinach, blanched, drained and squeezed 
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds 
  • 75 grams onion, thinly sliced 
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, finely chopped
  • 100 ml water 
  • 1½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • Salt, to taste
