Preparation Method :

  • Do not chop the tail of the brinjal, slit the plain side both ways. Stuff it with pitlai podi, added with required salt.
  • Extract tamarind juice for 1 tablespoon, or paste.
  • Place brinjal in a microwave dish mix with a teaspoon of oil and cook for 2 minutes to allow water to evoporate.
  • Remove and sprinkle with tamarind juice. Now cook again for a minute.
  • Remove from microwave, allow mustard seeds to splutter in oil and add and place the brinjal one beside the other in the non-stick pan, close lid and allow to roast for 3 minutes. Open lid, turn sides of the vegetable and cook again with closed lid.
  • Serve hot.


  • 20 Brinjal
  • Pitlai powder for filling
  • 2 tablespoon Tamarind
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • Salt as required
