Preparation Method :

  • Top and tail the beans if necessary. Cut into 2.5 cm/1 inch lengths. Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and add the pasta shapes and beans.
  • When the pasta is tender but still firm, drain immediately and refresh under cold water. Drain thoroughly.
  • Place the beans and pasta in a salad bowl and mix in olive oil, basil and salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. Toss gently with 2 forks to coat the beans and pasta with oil.
  • Add the tomatoes, spring onions (scallions), tuna chunks and parsley. Toss lightly to combine.
  • Serve the salad at room temperature with chunks of whole meal bread and butter.


  • 200 grams whole green beans 
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper 
  • 200 grams pasta shapes
  • 6 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 8 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 4 ripe tomatoes cut in wedges
  • 400 grams tuna in oil, drained
  • 4 tablespoons chopped parsley
