Preparation Method :

  • Slice bonito or tuna fish into bite-sized pieces.
  • Mix soybean sauce, sake, and mirin in a mixing bowl then place in the sliced bonito or tuna and leave to marinate for 5 minutes.
  • Soak the shredded green onions in cold water.
  • Scoop the cooked Japanese rice into a bowl and place the prepped pieces of fish over the rice and garnish with shredded green onions on the side.
  • Sprinkle the ground white sesame and serve with wasabi and shoyu sauce.


  • 300 grams cooked Japanese rice
  • 2 piece bonito or tuna fish
  • 4 stems Japanese green onion (shredded into long 8 cm strips)
  • 3 tablespoon soybean sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sake
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • Coarsely ground white sesame for sprinkling
  • Wasabi and shoyu sauce for dipping
