Preparation Method :

  • Place beans, onion, butter or lard and water in a saucepan, boil for about 10 - 12 minutes.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 - 1½ hours or until beans are tender.
  • Add more hot water as required while cooking, make sure that the beans should always be covered. Stir in chillies.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over a medium heat, add 3 spoonfuls of beans with their cooking liquid and cook mashing until beans form a coarse puree.
  • Add beans and cook in this way until all beans are added and mashed, then continue cooking, stir, until liquid evaporates.


  • 100 ml Cooking oil
  • 350 grams dried black, light pink beans, soaked and drained
  • ½ onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter or lard
  • 2.5 litres water
  • 3 serrano chillies, chopped
