Preparation Method :

  • Warm the milk. Add the sugar and yeast to it. Keep aside for 10 minutes till frothy.
  • Mix the flour, salt and spices. Rub in the butter.
  • Add the flour mixture with the warm milk , sugar and yeast, knead well to form a dough. Cover with a wet towel for about 45 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  • Add the dried fruits and knead lightly. Make bun shapes, flatten the tops and make cross marks. Leave them in a warm place till they increase in size, around 20 - 25 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes or until done.
  • Glaze with sugar syrup while still warm.


  • 50 grams raisins
  • 2 tablespoon fresh yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 250 ml milk
  • 500 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoon unsalted butter / margarine
