Preparation Method :

  • Spice the herrings with salt and pepper.
  • Mix the olive oil with the herbs, the onions and the cloves of garlic. Spread the mixture over the fish and allow to stand 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Grease 6 sufficiently large pieces of aluminium foil with some oil and place the herrings onto them.
  • Put one slice of lemon on each fish. Close the aluminium foil tightly.
  • Cook the packages in the embers for about 15 - 20 minutes. After cooking, arrange the herrings in the aluminium foil and serve.


  • 6 ready to cook green herrings, washed and dried
  • 150 grams onions, peeled and finely chopped
  • 50 ml Sesame oil
  • 1 bunch of dill, washed, dried and finely chopped
  • 1 box of cress, washed, dried and finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely chopped
  • Sesame oil for the aluminium foil
  • 1 untreated lemon, rub with a dry cloth and cut it into slices
  • Pepper and Salt, to taste
