Preparation Method :

  • Soak the bread slices in a bowl of water for 2 minutes, then squeeze out all the water and crumble the slices between your palms.
  • Put the bread in a large bowl and add all the remaining ingredients, except the oil. Mix well to form a binding consistency.
  • Divide the mixture in half and shape each half into 4 equal-sized, flat cakes 5 mm/ ¼ inch thick.
  • Pour oil into a frying pan to a depth of 2.5 cm/ 1 inch and heat over a medium heat. Add the cakes and cook for 5 minutes on each side, or until well browned. Drain on kitchen paper and serve hot.



  • 4 large slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 500 grams paneer, grated
  • 5 shallots, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 4 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 teaspoon ginger puree
  • 50 grams flaked almonds, lightly crushed
  • 2 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Cooking oil for frying
