CHOCOLATE CRINKLES CAKE

Preparation Method :

  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (Though you can do this with a wooden spoon, too) beat together the Cocoa powder, white sugar, and vegetable oil until it comes together Into a shiny, gritty, black dough of sorts.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing for 30 seconds each. Add the Vanilla and beat in thoroughly.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and espresso powder if using.
  • Mix into the chocolate mixture on low speed until just combined. Do not overbeat.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill the dough for four hours or overnight.
  • Mix it again to make it smooth.
  • Roll around in bowl of powdered sugar until they are coated in a thin layer of the sugar.
  • Place dough balls on cookie sheet put in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture in a grease cake tin and put in the oven at 350 degrees.
  • After 15 minutes insert a wooden pick in centre if it comes out clean then the cake is ready.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 300 grams white sugar
  • 100 ml IDHAYAM Mantra Groundnut oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 400 grams all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 200 grams icing sugar

    The recipe's name sounds exciting, however, the recipe seems a bit confusing. Step no. 7 says to roll the dough in sugar, then it asks us to place dough balls on a cooking sheet and bake it! Won't it either get runny or turn cookie-like? Then bake it as a cake??? Please clarify.
