Preparation Method :

  • To make the ganache, heat the cream until bubbles appear on the edges.
  • Add cocoa powder and chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Let it stand for a while till the chocolate begins to melt. Mix well.
  • Add 1 tablespoon milk and a pinch of salt. Whisk until it is smooth and no lumps are formed. Cool for 1 hour.
  • Mix plain flour, caster sugar, cocoa powder and baking powder together.
  • Add eggs, whisk lightly, then add oil and milk. Use a hand blender to mix if you like.
  • The mixture will be thick. Slowly start incorporating hot water while whisking. The final batter will be quite thin in consistency. Add  salt and vanilla extract.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease two cake tins, and divide the batter equally between them. Place on the middle rack and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Insert a skewer to check if the cakes are done, then let them cool. Remove the puffed-up top hat, carefully and divide each cake into two layers.
  • Pour some ganache on each cake and spread it evenly, then place the next layer. Sprinkle some grated milk chocolate on top. Serve chilled.

  • 300 ml Peanut oil
  • 300 ml milk
  • 300 ml hot water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Grated milk chocolate
