Preparation Method :

  • Prepare the cake: in a large bowl, beat the eggs with an electric mixer until lightly foamy. Gradually add the sugar while mixing and combine to mix until thick and foamy.
  • Fold the flour into the eggs and mix until uniform.
  • Divide the mixture into two equal portions. Fold the coffee into one half and mix until smooth and brown.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Spoon 2 tablespoons of the yellow mixture into one side of the pan. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the brown mixture on the same side. Repeat on the opposite side of the pan. Repeat with the remaining mixtures.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • Prepare the frosting: make coffee syrup by dissolving the sugar and 1 tablespoon of liqueur in the boiling water. Stir well.
  • Using an electric mixer beat together the cream and confectioner's sugar. Mix until the mixture forms stiff peaks.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of liqueur and whisk well.
  • Set aside.
  • Assemble the cake: cut the cake in half horizontally. Spoon half the coffee syrup in the center of the bottom half. Spread the frosting evenly over the bottom half of the cake.
  • Place the top half back on the cake and pour the remaining syrup over the top.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Store the cake for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
