ORANGE AND SESAME CAKE

Preparation Method :

  • Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in 1 tablespoon of the flour and the baking powder and gradually beat in the egg yolks.
  • Stir in the remaining flour, the orange rind and juice and the sesame seeds.
  • Whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks and then stir into the cake mixture.
  • Spoon the mixture into a lightly greased and lined 9-inch loose- bottomed cake tin.
  • Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/ Gas Mark 5. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and firm to the touch.
  • Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool.

INGREDIENTS

  • 75 grams butter
  • 100 grams castor sugar
  • 100 grams self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • Grated rind and juice of 1 orange 
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
