CHEESE AND BREAD SOUFFLE

French bread is good, but it would be better if you will turn it into a Cheese and Bread Soufflé. This pastry recipe makes use of ingredients like mustard and cheddar cheese to make the soufflé the best-tasting bread ever.

Preparation Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Spread both sides of the bread with half the butter and use to line a greased 900 ml soufflé dish.
  • Melt the remaining 25 grams butter in a pan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and gradually blend in the milk.
  • Cook the sauce, stirring, until it thickens. Cool slightly then beat in the mustard and egg yolks. Stir in the cheese and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Whisk the egg whites until just stiff and carefully fold into the cheese mixture. Pour into the soufflé dish.
  • Cook in a preheated moderately hot oven (200°C / 400°F, Gas Mark 6) for 30 minutes or until well risen and golden brown. Serve immediately with a green salad.

  • 12 thin slices French bread    
  • 100 gram butter, softened    
  • 50 gram plain flour    
  • 300 ml milk    
  • 1 teaspoon made mustard    
  • 6 eggs, separated    
  • 150 gram mature Cheddar cheese, grated 
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
