Preparation Method :

  • Heat oil in a wok or a pan and deep fry the onions till golden brown. Drain with a slotted spoon and cool.
  • Blend the browned onions, ginger, garlic, cashew nuts and drained poppy seeds to a smooth thick paste.
  • Put the mince, onion paste, garam masala, chili powder and salt in a mixer blender. Blend thoroughly to get a sticky consistency.
  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl and keep it aside. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C or heat the gas tandoor on gas on moderate heat.
  • Wrap the mince mixture around the skewers.
  • Roast in the tandoor or oven for at least 10 minutes. Brush with little butter or oil.
  • Remove from the skewers with the help of a clean napkin.
  • Serve with onion rings, lemon wedges, chopped mint or coriander. Sprinkle lemon juice and chat masala on the kebabs and onions. Serve hot.


  • 500 grams lamb mince (keema)
  • 2 onions - sliced
  • 9 garlic flakes
  • 1" piece ginger
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (khus khus) - soaked for 15 minutes in water
  • 1 tablespoon broken cashewnuts
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala 
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedges
  • Chat masala
  • Onion rings
