Preparation Method :

  • Cream the butter until light and fluffy using a hand-mixer at top speed.
  • Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt and beat until smooth. Gradually beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating for 30 seconds before each addition.
  • Sift the all-purpose flour with the baking powder and cornstarch, and gradually beat this into the creamed mixture on medium speed.
  • Chop the chocolate into chips and add it to the mixture.
  • Transfer the dough to a greased 9in/23 cm diameter Bundt or tube pan and bake in a preheated 375-400°F/190-200°C oven for 50-60 minutes.
  • Unmold, and leave the cake to cool completely before dusting with sifted powdered sugar.


For the dough

  • 200 grams cornstarch
  • 200 grams softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 package vanilla sugar
  • 175 grams plain baking chocolate
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3-4 eggs    
  • 600 grams all-purpose flour    

For sprinkling

  • Powdered sugar
