Egg is a very basic food for breakfast. You can turn this into a wonderful dish by adding some ingredients like mustard, pepper, garlic, milk, cheddar cheese and other spices. In just a few minutes, you can turn it into a very special Pepper Quiche.
Serves :

Preparation Time :
1 hour

Cooking Time :
1 hour 10 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Place the flour, mustard, salt and cayenne pepper in a mixing bowl.
  • Rub in the margarine until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Stir in the cheese, add the water and mix to a firm dough. Turn on to a floured surface and knead lightly until smooth.
  • Roll out thinly and use to line a 9 inch flan ring placed on a baking sheet. Chill for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan, add the onion and fry until softened. Add the garlic and peppers and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Mix the eggs and milk together, and then stir in the pepper mixture, breadcrumbs, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour into the flan case and bake in a preheated moderately hot oven for 35 to 40 minutes until golden.
  • Serve hot or cold, with salad.


Cheese Pastry

  • 250 grams whole meal flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 150 grams margarine
  • 150 grams Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 6 tablespoons water


  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2 green pepper, cored, deseeded and sliced
  • 2 red pepper, cored, deseeded and sliced
  • 4 eggs
  • 300 ml skimmed milk
  • 100 grams whole meal breadcrumbs
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
