Preparation Method :

  • Cut Beef and vegetables into 5mm cubes.
  • Combine Beef, vegetables, parsley and shallots in bowl.
  • Divide pastry into 2 portions.
  • Roll 1 portion between sheets of baking paper until 3mm thick.
  • Cut pastry into 6 x 12cm rounds; top each round with 1/4 cup Beef mixture.
  •  Lightly brush edges with egg yolk, fold over, pinch edges together to seal.
  • Repeat with remaining pastry, filling and egg yolk.
  • Place pasties on greased oven trays, brush with remaining egg yolk.
  • Bake in moderate oven about 25 minutes or until browned.
  • Serve with tomato sauce.


  • Sift flour into bowl, rub in butter and lard. Stir in enough water to make ingredients cling together.
  • Press dough into a ball, knead on floured surface until smooth, cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.

Tomato Sauce:

  • Combine ingredients in small bowl.



  • 250 grams rump Beef
  • 150 grams Sweet potatoes, peeled
  • 150 grams old potato, peeled
  • 150 grams Swede
  • 100 grams Onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 green shallots, chopped
  • 1 egg yolk


  • 500 grams Plain flour
  • 100 grams butter, chopped
  • 100 grams lard
  • 150 ml water


  • 250ml tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
