Preparation Method :

  • Cook the sweet potatoes in a large pot of salted boiling water until tender, 15 minutes. Drain well and return to the pan. Mash with the butter and milk.
  • Sauté the mushrooms, scallions, and garlic in 2 tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until softened, 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the cream, lemon juice, thyme, and salt. Bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat until thickened, about 1 minute.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Cook the steaks for 5-10 minutes, until cooked to your liking. Serve hot with the vegetables.


  • 1 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 500 grams mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 6 scallions (spring onions), thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 100 ml sesame oil
  • 300 ml light (single) cream
  • 5 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 6 beef fillet steaks
