Preparation Method :

  • Melt butter in a saucepan over a medium heat, add onion, then mince and cook, stirring constantly to break up any large chunks, until well browned.
  • Stir in tomatoes with stock, pasta, herbs, chilli powder, Worcestershire sauce.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 - 30 minutes, add more water and keep stirring.
  • When meat is cooked and pasta is tender, stir in kidney beans and heat through. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.


  • 250 grams red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 750 grams lean beef mince
  • 450 grams canned tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 250 ml hot beef stock
  • 100 grams pasta shells
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mixed herbs
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Finely chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
