TURKISH STEWED LAMB

Do you want to prepare a delicious meal with a taste of Turkey? Why not try this healthy Turkish stewed lamb. This is easy to prepare and will just take you minutes in preparing this dish. You just need to open your imagination.

1 hour 50 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Remove excess fat from the lamb and cut the meat into bite-sized pieces.
  • Peel and slice the onion. Cut the unpeeled aubergine (eggplant) into cubes; core and seed the pepper and cut into squares. Top and tail the courgettes (zucchini) and beans and cut into slices.
  • Peel the tomatoes and roughly chop. Trim the okra if using by removing the top stem, but leave whole.
  • Heat the oil in a large, heavy flameproof casserole or pan and slowly brown the meat on all sides. Add the onion and cook until golden, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour in enough stock to come just to the top of the meat, cover and simmer until the meat is almost tender, about 50 minutes.
  • Add all the vegetables to the meat with the remaining stock. Taste the liquid and season well with salt and pepper.
  • Replace the lid and simmer for about 30 minutes until the vegetables are cooked and the meat is very tender.
  • Serve with boiled brown rice.

  • 1 kg boneless lamb, cut from leg or shoulder
  • 2 onions
  • 2 small aubergines
  • 1 green pepper
  • 4 courgettes
  • 200 grams green beans
  • 4 ripe tomatoes
  • 200 grams okra (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • About 600 ml chicken stock
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
