Preparation Method :

  • Add beef with the mixture of orange juice, brown sugar, olive oil, garlic, ginger and spice powder in a bowl.
  • Toss to coat and set aside, marinate for 1 hour. Drain and reserve marinade.
  • Thread meat onto skewers, alternating with red pepper, pineapple and onion petals.
  • Brush with reserved marinade and cook under a preheated hot grill, basting frequently with reserved marinade for 2 minutes each side or until cooked.
  • Line two serving plates with shredded lettuce and garnish with quartered tomatoes.
  • Sprinkle with French dressing and season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  • Divide skewers between the two plates and serve immediately with crusty bread.


  • 225 grams rump steak, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of mixed spice powder
  • ½ red pepper, seeds removed, cubed
  • 2 onions, quartered and layers separated
  • 2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 10 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon French dressing
  • 2 slices fresh or canned pineapple, cubed
  • Freshly ground black pepper and Salt, to taste
  • Shredded lettuce, to serve
