If you want a tasty and saucy recipe the French-style lamb is perfect for you. The combination taste of tomatoes, wine, parsley and mushrooms gives an extra excitement for the recipe. It is so easy to prepare and serve.

Preparation Method :

  • Trim any excess fat from the lamb and cut into 1 inch cubes. Heat the oil in a flameproof casserole or heavy-based pan.
  • Add the onion and garlic and saute until golden.
  • Add the lamb cubes and cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes or until evenly browned.
  • Stir in the tomatoes and their juice, tomato puree and wine. Add the rosemary, thyme, bay leaf and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir well, then cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and green pepper to the casserole. Check the seasoning, cover and continue simmering for a further 20 minutes.
  • Discard the herbs. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  • Serve with brown rice.


  • 750 grams lean boned leg of lamb
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 large onion, peeled and sliced
  • 2 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 750 grams tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 300 ml dry white wine
  • 2 rosemary sprig
  • 2 thyme sprig
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 200 grams mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 green pepper, cored, deseeded and sliced
  • Chopped parsley, to garnish
