Preparation Method :

  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the lamb, onions, and garlic until lightly browned, 10 minutes.
  • Add the ginger, turmeric, and salt. Pour in the water. Cover and simmer over low heat until the lamb is tender, 40 minutes.
  • Stir in the dates, honey, and cinnamon. Uncover and cook until the sauce has reduced, 15 minutes. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, slivered almonds, and parsley. Serve hot.


  • 100 grams butter
  • 3 kg boneless leg of lamb, diced
  • 6 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 kg pitted dates
  • 5 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoon slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoon coarsely chopped fresh parsley
