Preparation Method :

  • Heat 2 tablespoon ghee in a thick-bottomed pan; fry the mince with red chilli powder, garlic paste, ginger, yoghurt, and onion paste till well browned.
  • Add the spices with a little water. Put on dum and cook till the mince is tender and dry.
  • Heat the remaining ghee for the rice in a separate pan; fry the onions till golden, drain and keep aside.
  • Fry the rice and green gram or red gram with ginger. Add water and salt, boil till half done. Put on dum and cook till almost done.
  • Spread the rice and green gram mixture over the mince, put the fried onions on top and cook on dum for another half hour. Sprinkle a little water or milk, if necessary. Blend well before serving.



  • 250 grams Lamb mince
  • 100 grams Rice
  • 4 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • ½ " piece Ginger, grated
  • 60 grams Yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon Onion paste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder, freshly crushed
  • A small pinch of each Cinnamon, cardamom and mace powders
  • 30 grams Onions, thinly sliced
  • 75 grams Split green gram, husked or Red gram
  • Ginger grated ½ " piece
  • Salt to taste
