CORNISH PASTIES

Preparation Method :

  • Prepare the pie crust. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C/gas 6). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix the steak, onion, potatoes, mixed vegetables, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  • Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface to very thin. Cut out four 9-inch (23-cm) circles. Place a quarter of the filling along the center of each circle. Brush the edges with the egg. Draw up the sides to meet at the top. Pinch to seal.
  • Transfer to the baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then lower oven temperature to 350°F (180°C/gas 4) and bake for 45 minutes, until golden. Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pie crust  
  • 750 grams chuck steak, finely chopped
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut in small cubes
  • 500 grams frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
