BEEF & GUINNESS PIE

Stop searching for any palatable foods and start exploring your cooking abilities through beef and Guinness pie. This dish is made up of good-quality fat, mushroom, plain flour, short crust pastry and a lot more. Every meat you eat will always remind you of its delicious fillings and palatable added components.

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F.
  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan and fry the beef for atleast 5 minutes.
  • Add the shallots and button mushrooms and cook for about 15 minutes, stir it occasionally with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the flour and cook for a further 3 minutes.
  • Add beef stock and Guinness gradually, stir it continuously until the sauce thickens slightly. Simmer for more than an Hour.
  • Season it well with salt and pepper and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Roll out the shortcrust pastry and use it to line the base and sides of a greased 1.2 litre ovenproof pie dish.
  • Pour in the meat mixture, top with puff pastry, glaze with the beaten egg (beaten with a little milk), and bake in the centre of the oven for half an hour.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams butter
  • 700 grams good-quality fat and gristle removed  stewing beef , cut it into 2.5cm cubes
  • 10 shallots, peeled and sliced
  • 100 grams button mushrooms, wiped
  • 50 grams of plain flour
  • 270 ml Rich Beef Stock
  • 150 ml Guinness
  • Freshly ground black pepper and Salt
  • 170 grams Shortcrust Pastry
  • 100 grams Puff Pastry
  • 1 egg
