Preparation Method :

  • Pie Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and carrots and saute until softened, 5minutes.
  • Add the beef and sauté browned, about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, beef stock, bay leaf, thyme, and pepper. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Topping Cook the potatoes in salted boiling water until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and mash with the butter and milk. Stir in the horseradish.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C/gas 5). Spoon the meat into an ovenproof dish. Top with the mash and bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown. Serve hot.



  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 carrots, cubed
  • 750 grams ground (minced) beef
  • 500 grams tomatoes, with juice
  • 600 ml beef stock
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • Freshly ground black pepper


  • 1.5 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 100 grams butter
  • 100 ml milk
  • 4 teaspoons creamed horseradish
