TATIE PIE WITH CHEESE SCONE TOPPING

Exploring excellent food preparation is all yours! With tatie pie with cheese scone topping, you will never find it hard in preparing your delicious menu. This dish is covered with minced beef, diced potatoes, mixed herbs, marrowfat peas, and cheese scone pastry.

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F.
  • Heat the dripping in a large saucepan until it is quite hot, add the mince and very quickly seal and brown it for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add potatoes, carrots, onions and mixed herbs, cooking for 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with the flour, stir, add the peas and beef stock, bring to the boil and simmer for 40 minutes.
  • Season it with salt and pepper.
  • Put the mixture into a 1.2 litre pie dish and scatter the diced black pudding over the top (this helps to thicken the sauce in the filling during the cooking process).
  • Roll out the cheese scone pastry enough to cover the pie dish.
  • Mark out 6-8 slices on the pastry, cover the pie dish with cooking foil or greased greaseproof paper and bake in the centre of the oven for 45 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 25 grams beef dripping
  • 700 grams roughly minced beef
  • 900 grams peeled and diced potatoes
  • 150 grams peeled and diced carrots
  • 225 grams peeled and sliced onions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mixed herbs
  • 30 grams plain flour
  • 100 grams marrowfat peas
  • 275 ml Basic Beef Stock
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 225 grams skin removed diced black pudding
  • 1 quantity Cheese Scone Pastry
