Preparation Method :

  • Cook the cubed braising steak with spices and coconut milk, until the meat is tender and the sauce turns thick.
  • Heat the oil in a large pan, add the onions and fry until they are just beginning to brown, then add the garlic, chillies and ginger fry for a minute or two.
  • Add the beef and remaining spices. Stir well and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Cover the meat with coconut milk and little water. Adjust seasoning with salt.
  • Simmer to low flame, cover and cook for about 20-30 minutes or until the meat is almost tender.
  • Add the vinegar and continue cooking till the meat turns tender. Garnish with diced chillies and serve.


  • 750 grams braising steak, cubed
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 150 ml vinegar
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 3-4 green chillies, chopped
  • ½ inch piece fresh root ginger, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 cinnamon stick, ground
  • 2-3 cloves, ground
  • 2 yellow or green chillies, diced, to garnish
  • Chilli powder, salt to taste
