Five spice beef with vegetables is a nutritious dish that you can serve to your children. It uses beef as its main ingredient and adds vegetables to make it tastier. You can add broccoli and toss stir with the vegetable. There you have your five spice beef with vegetables.

Preparation Method :

  • Trim the beef of any fat and cut into paper-thin slices. Combine the garlic, ginger and five-spice powder with the beef.
  • Blanch the broccoli in lightly salted boiling water for 1 minute, drain immediately.
  • Slice capsicum in strips, discarding seeds. Combine corn flour, soy and sherry with water.
  • Heat the peanut oil in the wok and stir-fry the capsicum for 30 seconds. Push aside and stir fry meat, tossing until it changes color.
  • Stir sauce and corn flour mixture again and add to wok, stirring until it boils and thickens.
  • Add broccoli, toss to combine all the vegetables and meat with sauce and finally add sesame oil and spring onions and stir through.
  • Serve at once with rice.


  • 750 grams rump steak
  • ½ teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 200 grams broccoli florets
  • 1 large red capsicum
  • 2 teaspoons corn flour
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 teaspoon oriental sesame oil
  • 3 spring onions, sliced diagonally
