Preparation Method :

  • Blend the garlic, ginger, green chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mint, fresh coriander with little yogurt to a paste.
  • Heat half the quantity of oil in a pan, add 1 chopped onion and fry until golden.
  • Add the lamb and half of the yogurt. Stir well, cover and cook for about 20-22 minutes.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a large pan, add the spices and fry for a minute.
  • Add the remaining onion and the garlic mixture and fry for about 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Add the lamb and yogurt mixture, adjust seasoning with salt. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes.
  • Add the almonds and cook for further 8-10 minutes or until the meat is tender. Serve garnished with flaked almonds.


  • 750 grams boned leg of lamb, cubed
  • 225 grams yogurt
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 5-6 cardamom pods
  • 5-6 cloves
  • 1 inch piece cinnamon stick
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • 150 grams flaked almonds, plus extra to garnish
