Preparation Method :

  • Sauce Heat the oil in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and saute until softened, 5 minutes.
  • Add the tomatoes, oregano, and salt. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat until reduced a little, about 10 minutes.
  • Meatballs Place the bread crumbs in a large bowl with the milk. Stir in the beef, cheese, eggs, onion, parsley, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
  • Shape the mixture into small meatballs and add to the hot tomato sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes, turning carefully once or twice. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley, with the rice or potatoes.



  • Sauce
  • 5 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 500 grams fresh or canned tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt to taste


  • 100 grams fresh bread crumbs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 750 grams ground (minced) beef
  • 200 grams freshly grated pecorino
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • Small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley + extra, to garnish
  • 2 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Rice or potatoes, to serve
