Imagine a veal dish on the table with a thick brown sauce with mushrooms, tomatoes and basil on its top. Plus the aroma of margarine that soothes your senses. Certainly, you are craving for Mediterranean style veal chops. It’s just one cook away through your kitchen.

15 minutes

Cooking Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Melt the margarine and oil together in a frying pan and fry the chops quickly until browned on both sides. Season and remove from pan.
  • Fry the prepared mushrooms and peppers until soft, add the tomatoes, seasoning, basil and stock or water. Boil for 3 minutes.
  • Return chops to the pan and simmer, uncovered, for about 30 minutes. The sauce should be very thick.
  • Arrange the chops on a heated dish with the sauce and garnish with lemon wedges.


  • 50 grams margarine 
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 8 veal chops, trimmed 
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 750 grams mushrooms, wiped and sliced 
  • 4 large green or red peppers, cored, deseeded and sliced
  • 750 grams tomatoes, skinned and sliced
  • 2 tablespoon chopped basil
  • 500 ml chicken stock or water lemon wedges, to garnish
